Establishment and Growth:

Founded in 1975-76 as an evening teaching department within the Vani Vihar Campus of Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, the Law College initially lacked a dedicated building.

Over time, both the university authorities and the Government of Odisha recognized the need to elevate legal education in the region, prompting initiatives to enhance the college’s infrastructure and reputation.

Introduction of Integrated Courses:

In response to the nationwide trend of specialized legal education, the Law College introduced the 5-year integrated B.A LL.B (Hons) course in 1997-98.

This initiative, in line with the Ministry of Law’s directive, aimed to offer a comprehensive curriculum that combines undergraduate studies with legal training. A high-power committee, chaired by a sitting Judge of the Hon’ble High Court of Odisha, took oversight of the specialized course.

Curriculum and Accreditation:

The curriculum for the integrated course was meticulously designed by the Bar Council of India and the University Grants Commission, New Delhi.

Also, the college is now housed in its independent building within the Vani Vihar premises spanning over 2.5 acres and offers state-of-the-art facilities for legal education. Accredited by the N.A.C.E., the institution boasts highly educated teaching staff committed to upholding the highest standards of legal education.
